    Mercy Indianola Physical Therapy Clinic

    • Annette Corbett, MPT, graduated from Central College in Pella, Iowa with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Secondary Education.  Annette then received a Masters in Physical Therapy from the University of Iowa.  Annette has worked for Mercy Clinics in Outpatient Physical Therapy since graduating in 1997, initially at Mercy West and now at the Indianola location.  Annette works with various age groups, treating orthopedic conditions ranging from upper or lower extremity problems to issues specific to the spine. 
    • Lisa Williams, PTA, graduated from Iowa State University in 1990 with a BA in Art and Design and a Minor in Psychology. She received her Associates Degree in Science as a Physical Therapy Assistant from Indian Hills Community College in 1999. Lisa has been employed at Mercy since April 1996, working in the acute, subacute and home healthcare setting. In April 2008, she joined the outpatient setting assisting therapists with patients with a variety of diagnoses.


    Mercy North Physical Therapy Clinic

    • Ashley Young, PTA, graduated from Indian Hills Community College with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in the Physical Therapy Assistant Program in 2006.  Ashley enjoys working with orthopedic and sports injuries and has been working at Mercy North since 2006.   
    • Jessica Baade, DPT, ATC graduated from Des Moines University with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy.  Jessica attained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science and Athletic Training from Northwestern College.  As a student athletic trainer at Northwestern, Jessica worked with the football, basketball, wrestling, volleyball, soccer, and softball teams.  She has been a certified athletic trainer since 2005.  She has experience treating all orthopedic and sports injuries. She also has experience in post-stroke rehabilitation.  Jessica has been at Mercy North since 2007.
    •  Tim Vander Wilt, PT, ATC, CSCS, graduated from Des Moines University with a Master of Science Degree in Physical Therapy.  He also attended Central College where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training and became a Certified Athletic Trainer in 2001.  At Central he was a student athletic trainer for football, track, volleyball, and basketball.   He also has interests in sports training and became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist in 2003.  His interests also include performing video analysis for all levels of runners and golfers.  Tim also has experience treating orthopedic, neurological, and vestibular populations. Tim has been at Mercy North Physical Therapy since 2005.

     

    Mercy South Physical Therapy Clinic

    • Beth Chapman, MPT, graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and minor in Athletic Training.  She then earned her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Iowa in 1999.  She is also a certified Athletic Trainer and a credentialed Clinical Instructor for PT students.  Beth has worked for Mercy Medical Center for 6 years and is now treating general orthopedic patients at Mercy South Physical Therapy Clinic.  She also has additional education and experience with vestibular rehabilitation and sports medicine.
    • Cheryl Hochstein, MPT, graduated from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and Athletic Training in 1992.  She then received her Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from Des Moines University in 1994.  She is also a certified Athletic Trainer.  Cheryl has worked for Mercy Medical Center for 13 years and is now at the Mercy South Physical Therapy Clinic treating outpatients with various conditions using manual skills and functional exercise.  She has additional experience working with the geriatric population, osteoporosis and lower extremity amputee patients. 
    • Jason Gordon, PTA, graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1998.  He then earned his AAS as a Physical Therapy Assistant in 2000 from Western Iowa Tech Community College.  Jason currently works at the Mercy South Physical Therapy Clinic treating general orthopedic patients.  He is also a credentialed clinical instructor for PTA students.  He has been with Mercy since 1997.
    • Karen Leonhart, MSPT, graduated from Iowa State University in 1986 with a  Bachelor of Science degree.  She then went on to earn her Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy at Des Moines University in 1992.  Karen has worked for Mercy Medical Center for 9 years and is currently practicing at Mercy South Physical Therapy Clinic treating general orthopedic patients. 
    • Laura Covill, PT, MHS, OCS, graduated from Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1979.  She then later went on to earn her MHS at the University of Indianapolis in 2002.  Laura was certified as an orthopedic specialist in 2003.  She has been with Mercy Medical Center for 12 years and is currently practicing at the Mercy South Physical Therapy Clinic.  She specializes in manual therapy of the spine, hand therapy and sports medicine in addition to seeing orthopedic patients.  Laura is also a faculty member at Des Moines University in the Physical Therapy Education Department.
    • Travis Beyer, MSPT, graduated from Iowa State University in 1998 with a degree in Exercise Science.  He then received his Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Des Moines University in 2002.  Travis is also certified in performing Functional Capacity Evaluations for the Industrial Rehabilitation clientele.  Travis has worked for Mercy Medical Center for 5 years and is now seeing general orthopedic patients at the Mercy South Physical Therapy Clinic.  He also has additional experience working with Industrial Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine populations.
    • Travis Kleinendorst, DPT, graduated from Iowa State University in 2003 with a degree in Exercise and Sports Science.  He then went on to Des Moines University where he earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2007.  Travis has worked at the Mercy South Physical Therapy Clinic for 4 months seeing general orthopedic patients, worker’s compensation and work conditioning clients. 

     

    Mercy Urbandale Physical Therapy Clinic

    • Melissa Etten, DPT, is a 2006 graduate of the doctor of physical therapy program at Des Moines University. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Iowa State University in 2003. She has been a physical therapist with Mercy Clinics since May of 2006 working with patients in the areas of general orthopedics, balance rehabilitation and fall prevention, as well as vestibular dysfunction. She is an active member of both of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Iowa Physical Therapy Association.
    • Rich Green, PT, graduated from Christian Brother University in Memphis, TN, with a BS in 1990 and received his masters in Physical Therapy from Des Moines University in 1992. He initially practiced at Mercy Medical Center from 1992-1994 in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. For the past 12 years, Rich has practiced in the orthopedic setting. His experience includes general orthopedics, industrial rehab, FCEs, adverse neural tension and sports medicine. He has presented both locally and nationally on topics ranging from FCEs to large-event medical coverage. Rich was Director for Medical Service for the 2003 Region 2 United States National Youth Soccer Tournament, 2004 AAU National Junior Olympic Games, 2006 United States Youth Soccer National Championships and 2007 IMT Des Moines Marathon. He has served on the Board of the Greater Des Moines Sports Authority and completed the Community Leadership Program of the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute in 2005-2006. He is been at Grand View College for the past 10 years teaching both Kinesiology and Advancement of  Human Performance as well as serving on the Advisory Board for the Health Promotion major.
    • Todd Smothers, MPT, is a 1989 graduate of Iowa State University with a BS in physical education. He graduated from The University of Iowa with a Masters degree in Physical Therapy on 1992. His PT career began with employment in Rice Lake, Wisconsin working for the Marshfield Clinic. For the past 13 years, he has been a PT with the Mercy system. He is a credentialed Clinical Instructor with over 20 PT students that have trained under him. He primarily sees general orthopedic patients with interests in work related injuries, post surgical patients, and sports medicine. He currently practices at Mercy Urbandale Physical Therapy.

     

    Mercy West Physical Therapy Clinic

    • Amy Brensel, MS PT, graduated from Des Moines University with a Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy in 2001. Amy has been working at Mercy West Physical Therapy outpatient clinic since 2001. Amy enjoys working with people of all ages and medical diagnoses to restore function and improve quality of life. Amy has a special interest in geriatrics and has attended numerous continuing education courses in geriatric care and rehabilitation.
    • Ann Moylan OTR/L, CLT-LANA, graduated from Creighton University in Omaha in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy. Ann received her Master Degree in healthcare Administration from Drake University in 1995. She received her certification from the Lymphedema Association of North America in 2002. Ann has worked at Mercy Medical Center since 1989. Ann has been at the Mercy West location for approximately ten years working with a variety of ages with orthopedic, lymphedema, arthritis and neurological conditions involving the upper extremity. Ann is a fitter for Silver Ring and Oval 8 Splints for the joint deformities of arthritis.
    • Coby Shank, PT, graduated from Grandview College in 1993 with Majors in Business and Accounting and a dual Minor in Biology and Math. He then received his Masters in Physical Therapy from Des Moines University in 1996. Coby has worked in all settings of therapy but has been in his current position of outpatient rehabilitation at Mercy West since 1999. He uses a variety of techniques to treat everything in the body; specializing in the Maitland Approach to spinal and peripheral mobilization.
    • JoAnn Green MS, PT, graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 1990. JoAnn received her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in des Moines in 1993. JoAnn specializes in Women’s Health including incontinence, pregnancy and post-partum related problems, and pelvic pain treatment. JoAnn has worked at Mercy since 1993.
    •  Karen Ely, PT, MA, graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Science degree, a Certificate in Physical Therapy and a Master of Arts in Physical Therapy. Karen has worked at Mercy Medical Center since 1986 and is now at the Mercy West Physical Therapy Clinic where she treats out-patients with a variety of conditions. She has worked with arthritis patients since starting at Mercy and ahs attended numerous continuing education courses related to therapy for patients with arthritis, osteoporosis and fibromyalgia
    • Nancy Erdmann, PTA, attended college at Iowa Central Community College, graduating with an Associate in Arts Degree for Physical Education in 1982. In 1993, Nancy began working at Mercy Hospital as a P.T. aide and technician. She then returned to school, graduating from Indian Hills Community College in 1997 with her Associate in Science Degree as a Physical Therapy Assistant. Nancy has worked in acute, subacute, and homecare settings, but for the last 6 years she has worked in the Mercy West Outpatient Physical Therapy Clinic. She assists the therapists with patients with a variety of diagnoses.
